New developments.

I went to Jyväskylä and met up with Johanna and had a great time. We had planned on going for a walk, but that didnt wind up happening. We did walk from the cafe to her flat and then to the pizza place though...

We went out to Elohuvi, the night club around the corner from where Johanna lives and had a really good time. Channel 3 (I think) was there and we got to watch a dance competition that they were filming. There were these women in matching outfits who were hired by the television company to dance and they were frightening. They all had these white pants and black shirts on and looked like they lived in a tanning bed when they werent dancing for TV - they must have been about 40 years old. I have never seen skin quite so brown and tough. The competition was fun to watch though and I think the best dancer won. Unfortunetly I only stayed for one night in Jyväskylä, but I will have to go back later in the year to visit.
I took the train back to Turku yesterday and met a guy who was on his way to Tampere. He told me all about the smoke saunas and how I would have to try it. He showed me the sausages he had bought for the barbeque afterwards. I mentioned I was from Canada, and all of a sudden the guy beside me started chatting as well. I think all this talk of the 'silent Finns' is a total lie. Every single Finnish person I have met so far has a LOT to say.
My bus driver on the way back to the Uusitupa's house was quite amusing. As soon as I said I didnt speak Finnish, he started singing the Money makes the world go 'round song from Cabaret (becuase I was trying to find my bus fare). He was really happy and most of the people at the front of the bus were laughing, especially when he said goodbye to all of them.
I have to go now, becuase I am going to see Seija Samppa one more time before I go on the ferry back to stockholm tonight. I will arrive in Stockholm at 6:30am. I still need to get ahold of the finnish girls I met on the ferry to see if I can stay at their house becuase I think the hostels are all full due to some rock concert. Maybe the Dandy Warhols?? I think they just played Helsinki. well, I seem to be digressing, so bye for now!

Moi Liz!

seems that you had nice trip. Finland is nice country and I am here since last September for my studies. I like Jyväskylä very much and I feel myself at home. Walking in night has its own pleasure specially when you have company of someone, specially Finn and time passes nice.

Have a nice time in Stockholm :)
