On my way to Edinburgh

I am at the library now at 9am writing this while looking out the window for my bus. I did a night porter shift last night, so I am quite tired and plan to sleep on the way to Edinburgh.

We had 160 american university students at the hostel this weekend and they had catered meals. That meant a lot of washing up. We also used the dodgy milk up (finally). There were about 6 or 7 milk cartons in the catering fridge and they had been there since I started work at the hostel. All the writing on the cartons was in german, so it wasnt really clear that it was even milk, except for the pictures of cows on the fronts of the cartons, but we were brave and set it out for the guests breakfast and they are all still alive. Apparently it was long life milk, so it might have been ok for another couple of weeks as well.
Coryna moved out of the hostel yesterday and into a flat on the other side of the river. I was sleeping most of yesterday so I could work at night, so I am not sure how it went, but I assume it went well. Her flat mate is really nice and the building seems quite friendly.
We had a very quiet night at the hostel last night, hardly any people checked in at all. For once there were no naked people either, which was quite a surprise as usually there are one or two naked or half naked people locked out of their rooms or just strolling through the hostel.
I GOT MY BANK CARD FINALLY! It was a time of much rejoicing on the morning my bank card arrived. Laura picked the letter out of the mail box and handed it to me before I could even enter reception and I think everyone was glad that I stopped moaning about my bank troubles.
On a lower note, my toenails are still rubbed off, and I am now known as 'the foreigner' thanks to the girl at the body shop, also two girls walking past me today pointed at me and laughed and I dont know why. Maybe becuase I was sitting eating in a sandwich shop with my coat and scarf on. But I was just too lazy to take it off...
Anyways, thats all for now. I will update after my rendezvous with my parents in Edinburgh. Cant wait to see the city again! Hooray!

hey, sounds like things are going well, aside from the toenail issue. Gramam said she sent you my email; about the fires here - they were on the CBC international report but I don't know if the news was aired in Britain (or if you've had a chance to watch it lol you sound busy). So yeah, we're off school for today and tomorrow, which is nice. The whole city smells like a huge campfire - it's awful to wake up to. They guess the total acreage is like 150, 000 (that's last night's guess) but nothing as far as our house, but it's been "ashing" ( new form of weather here - San Diego snow, i suppose) since yesterday morning. That's it really - hope your feet feel better soon!
love, Rebecca
