The beginning

Ok, I will write a bit here about the trip so far. I went to glasgow with Laura and stayed with her family just outside the city in Coatbridge. We did a bus tour one day and saw most of the sights, the cathedral was fantastic and we went a modern art gallery. Then we went for a 'green car tour' courtesy of Laura's dad and saw some of the rough area's of the city including the Bar-L prison and Sighthill as well as some gangster's houses which stood out from the other council houses by the high tech security cameras and elaborate stone work on the front of the house.

We did a bit of a ned watch and on the train into the city saw the most sterotypical neds ever - highly amusing. Their track suits blinded me with their whiteness. If you are confused by NEDS, then here is a helpful website - http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/tv/chewinthefat/neds/index.shtml

We drove home to inverness and stayed one night at the hostel before waking up early to go to the airport. Laura dropped Coryna and I off and we caught our flight to London. We spent the day in the city. We wandered in circles for a few hours trying to find the national gallery and then finally bought a map and found it. We had a great indian dinner and caught a train out to the airport and slept there until 5am and caught our flight to Athens where we met up with Shaun.
So here we are in Iraklio on Crete. We have been camping at Creta Camping in Gueves, just outside the city. Its quite warm here and we are right beside the beach, so we've spent a fair amount of time there.
We rented a car yesterday and travelled out to the east side of the island to look around. We wound up at one of the archealogical sites and saw the ruins of an ancient city.
Today we drove into Iraklio for Gyros for breakfast which were fantastic. Our car has a problem with its battery, so coryna and I have to push it until it starts. Today we had to push it into traffic to get started and one of the locals helped us out. None of us want to go back to the rental place to get a new car becuase the guy gave it to us for an extremely good deal and we figure its becuase the car is on its last legs.
The roads are insane. What looks like a two lane highway, is infact a five lane road. Cars pass on blind corners and into oncoming traffic and no one seems to mind.
The scenery is beautiful and there is lots to see. I think we are going to have one more day on crete and then we will probably go to Rhodes. I dont think we are going to Turkey anymore, but we are going to try and make it to some islands on the other side of Greece - probably Corfu - and end the trip in Athens.
Alright, thats all for now. I will try to update again soon.
