November 24, 2003Cold cold cold
It is Monday morning and freezing cold here! There is frost and ice on the ground and it looks quite nice, but I am wearing my coat and my toque and my scarf while I am in the library writing this. Not too much is going on here, just work and I am still trying to decide on a place to go for my little holiday in January. I need to talk to my manager about which days I actually get off though. you will be happy to know that I have written all my christmas cards and I am sending them soon so that they will all get to their destinations on time. I had an interesting day at the restaurant today. This woman held up her soup spoon, looked at me and asked 'Is this for the soup?' So I said 'what?' and she said 'this spoon, is this for the soup?' and I wanted to offer her a fork instead, but i just said 'yes. that is for the soup.' strange people. and then these two people walked in. A tall really busty lady and her 20 year old son. they sat down and while I was taking their order, she stopped mid sentence, slapped him across the face and carried on with 'and two black coffees' I figured the best thing to do was just not say anything. Apparently they own a very expensive local hair salon and are quite snobby. they are also lunatics. I just got your postcard from Gotland!! So much fun. Thanks a million! Yay for Dublin, I think I know where the Avalon Hostel is, I think it actually might be really close to where I lived! How fun!!! You will have to go where I worked for a sandwhich and a coffee! (Its the O'Briens across from Trinity College)!!! I miss you! xoxox Posted by: Dana on November 26, 2003 04:09 PMLove to read about your escapades! We clearly remember watching bits of great English programming, such as sheep dog trials (with commentary often in hushed voices) and darts competitions...and finding it so amusing, even though it was in all seriousness. Tastes differ! I was going to suggest you look for the last-minute bargains at the travel agents so you could go somewhere warm for a few day, but you've already booked Dublin? Heard it's beautiful, but wet. Our other niece, Liz Shadwick has been working on a farm in southern Ireland since Sept. Don"t know if she's still there. Do you want me to check, if you're looking for pleasant female company on your jaunt to the Emerald Isle? Thanks for the post card Liz! It's about the 4th real piece of mail I've gotten since being here. Hmm. That means one piece of mail per month. I'm a loser. Sending your adventcalendar today,a bit late, but you have to open all the windows in one day.Cold yesterday, warmer today.Hope you are staying warm! Love you Puss.Your angels have not forgotten you.
