Cold cold cold

It is Monday morning and freezing cold here! There is frost and ice on the ground and it looks quite nice, but I am wearing my coat and my toque and my scarf while I am in the library writing this. Not too much is going on here, just work and I am still trying to decide on a place to go for my little holiday in January. I need to talk to my manager about which days I actually get off though.
In other news, I saw two minor scottish celebrities in the eastgate centre mall today. I watch this show with two scottish interior designers that buy houses, fix them up and then sell them and the show is like a parody of a design show. They take it all VERY seriously and there are the occasional quiet moments where one of them will comment on how the other is feeling about the new heaters etc. Very amusing. AND THEY WERE IN THE MALL FRIDAY. I wanted to ask them for their autographs, but they were walking too fast and I dont know what their names are. Also, I watch their show becuase its really funny, and its not supposed to be. Oh well, it made my day to see them.
Ok, thats all for now, Im going to go and get some sleep after my night shift.

you will be happy to know that I have written all my christmas cards and I am sending them soon so that they will all get to their destinations on time. I had an interesting day at the restaurant today. This woman held up her soup spoon, looked at me and asked 'Is this for the soup?' So I said 'what?' and she said 'this spoon, is this for the soup?' and I wanted to offer her a fork instead, but i just said 'yes. that is for the soup.' strange people. and then these two people walked in. A tall really busty lady and her 20 year old son. they sat down and while I was taking their order, she stopped mid sentence, slapped him across the face and carried on with 'and two black coffees' I figured the best thing to do was just not say anything. Apparently they own a very expensive local hair salon and are quite snobby. they are also lunatics.
in other news, I am going to Dublin over new years. I booked my flight and accomodation yesterday. The flights in my budget were down to dublin, Oslo, and east midlands. I figured Oslo was too cold, and Ive never ever heard anything about east midlands except derogatory jokes, so Im off to ireland. it should be good.
well, not too much else is going on. I saw Love Actually at the theatre with coryna and it was great. It had just about EVERY brit star in it. things at the hostel have calmed down a little, except for last saturday night when I had about 40 spanish people in together who decided to have a party on my shift. oh dear. I was trying to get 40 drunk spaniards to be quiet and go to bed. right. anyways, they all eventually passed out.

How fun!!! You will have to go where I worked for a sandwhich and a coffee! (Its the O'Briens across from Trinity College)!!! I miss you! xoxox

Love to read about your escapades! We clearly remember watching bits of great English programming, such as sheep dog trials (with commentary often in hushed voices) and darts competitions...and finding it so amusing, even though it was in all seriousness. Tastes differ! I was going to suggest you look for the last-minute bargains at the travel agents so you could go somewhere warm for a few day, but you've already booked Dublin? Heard it's beautiful, but wet. Our other niece, Liz Shadwick has been working on a farm in southern Ireland since Sept. Don"t know if she's still there. Do you want me to check, if you're looking for pleasant female company on your jaunt to the Emerald Isle?
love, Kristina & family
PS your birthday gift will probably be late, as I haven't even bought it yet.

Thanks for the post card Liz! It's about the 4th real piece of mail I've gotten since being here. Hmm. That means one piece of mail per month. I'm a loser.
lol I was so excited to hear about your celeb sighting! They remind me of a show we have here: Queer Eye for a Straight Guy. Oh, it's great. Gay men making over the lives of straight men. FANTABULOUS.
Be safe in the city!
(only two more weeks and I go home!!) Yeehawww!
