One ferry ride and one bus trip and here I am in stockholm! It is a big city, but it is really nice. Lots of trees, lots of water. My allergies are gone! It's a good day, now I just need to find a room at a hostel...

I am in Central Station in Stockholm and I decided to sit down and take a break from trying to get somewhere, so I am checking my email and updating my travel log. The ferry ride was really fast - only 2 1/2 hours compared to the shorter route from Oskarshamn which took 5 hours. The safety video on the ferry was quite amusing. The soundtrack to the tape sounded like that song "You'll be a woman soon.." from pulp fiction and the guy who demonstrated how to unfold and put on the lifejacket made it look imposible. There were about 7 straps that you needed to carefully undo and wrap around yourself. I am also pretty sure that the woman who was making a cappucino on the video flipped us off. Anyways, after that they showed a movie, all in swedish, but the gist of it was a Lutheran minister caught in a love triangle. Very imaginative.
I was a bit sad to say goodbye to Visby, but it was getting hard for me to see becuase my eyes were running so badly from allergies. I havent had allergies in a long time, but I guess there was just something there. My hostel was really nice and clean and the bed was really comfy, but I found it strange being in a four bed dorm and the woman in charge kept assuring me that I would have the whole room to myself. That was when she wasn't saying "take it easy, take it easy" which also baffled me. I would have paid for some others in my dorm though as I am going crazy on my own. I wandered into a lot of shops yesterday just to speak with the people working. Hopefully I will make a friend or two at the hostel here. I hope to do some sightseeing today and tomorrow and then head to Finland to visit my long lost relatives and Johanna. I will have to check with Viking line about times and fares for the ferry.

Oh yeah. I think I told some people about stumbling onto the swedish movie set, anyways, on the ferry today, there was a picture of one of the scenes that they were filming while I was there on the front page of a Visby newspaper. I grabbed the newspaper! I have lots of pictures of Visby, hopefully they turn out and hopefully I can put some up here!
