I packed my backpack yesterday to see what I need to leave behind and I think my tent and sleeping bag take up about a third of my pack. Otherwise, it's not too bad. I have enough clothes, and I figure I can pick up anything I need along the way. My carry on bag is a little heavier than I thought - I found a bunch of pound coins left over from last summer and they weigh a ton. I got in touch with a friend in Jyvaskyla, so I will be visiting some-one I know when I get to Finland.

Im enjoying my last week on Vancouver Island. I went out to Tree island with my dad to do some Pit toilet cleaning the other day. It was absolutely beautiful on the water. Bright blue sky above reaching down to the distant blue mountains and the dark blue ocean. That is what I am going to miss about living on the Island - all that blue. I saw a few dolphins (or porpoises, Im not quite sure) playing in the water near the boat and lots of sail boats. We almost ran out of gas on the way back, well, we did run out of gas, but we made it back to the marina.
I went to the fall fair in Courtenay as well, and saw some kids outside the turkey cage who screamed every time the turkey gobbled, which made the turkey gobble more. It was funny. The fair is really small now, but there were a lot of cows, and the bird club was there. They had a rather sinister looking parrot named Chelsea who just sat really high up in her cage and watched everyone.
