four seasons in one day

Getting up early for a second big driving day meant leaving the warm hotel room, and trying to pack up the car as fast as we could.

Despite having been boiling hot the day before, the wind was whipping through Tenterfield - even though we were not that far away from Rainbow Beach.
We'd driven for hours the day before, but we'd been heading inland, so in reality, we were only about 100k closer to sydney than we had been the day before.
Still radiating heat from the sunburn we all were sporting, we got back into TC and headed off for another epic trek - this time across the Great Dividing Ranges and back into New South Wales.
Leaving the motel, the rain started - by the time we got back onto the main route it was sunny - then through the mountains it was snowing (i kid you not - we had to bundle up in nearly all the clothes we owned and I was driving at about 30k per hour) then the hail started - then it was sunny - then it was raining...
Didn't get any pics mind, I was clinging to the steering wheel of the town car at the time :o) I love driving like that. There were sheep in the fields that looked like snowsheep, we laughed so hard - it was like trying to drive through a snowdome :oD
It made me glad I took TC out for snow practice in the Snowy Mountains as I knew she'd be fine on the hairpin bends we were facing on the mountain roads.
We finally made it to Tamworth in the late afternoon - after running out of space on my memory card I needed to burn a cd (am now anti-kodac following that little episode - remind me to never darken their doors again) to free up some space to take a picture of the golden guitar.
Apparently Tamworth is the australian version of Nashville - not that you could really tell from being there - not a tasseled leather waistcoat or ten gallon hat on display anywhere! Most dissapointing :o) The town itself was great though - and we all wandered off to explore it at leisure.
We had a fab lunch at the Hugs Breath - kind of like a Hard Rock Cafe - loads of Americana on the walls etc...
Then it was off to Scone - our planned stop of the night - it was dark by the time we got there - I'd been driving for hours, but we made it in one piece with no dramas - despite the weathers best attempt to get us off the road.
