Bundanoon is Brigadoon

Years ago when I was a kid I watched a film called Brigadoon. I don't remember too much about it other than once a year, the town of Brigadoon appeared out of the mist in Scotland.

In Australia, a town in New South Wales named Dundanoon takes on the role of Brigadoon. They make such an effort, it'd be rude not to go along...
To start the day, there is a parade from the town to the cricket oval (Brigadoon) of the piped bands. Check these out:

After the piped bands have perfomed individually and together en masse in the oval, the highland games begin. There is haggis throwing, shot put, various games and displays from local groups (including cavaliers displaying sword fighting skills, and dog obedience displays) all manner of shops and stalls selling scottish food, t-shirts, car stickers, tartan, you name it - it was probably there!
They also had feats of strength in the main oval, here are some pictures from the caber tossing (sp?) Throughout the day I ate scotch pies, drank Irn Bru and was merry.
At the end of the day the piped bands gathered once again and marched out of the main oval View image and Brigadoon was no more. I've been advised it will return next year for the 29th year in a row. I have to say - it was unique and interesting, and I had the best fun.
Must remember next year to take more sunscreen and a hat - I burned bright pink during the day in the sun :oP
