February 06, 2005Fire!
Having driven past it heaps, it was finally time to visit the Museum of Fire. the museum is a fab place. Totally random and full of strange and quirky things. We'd been meaning to get round to it while Dawn was still here, but never did - so here you go Dawn - it's just like being there! First was the gimp suit (well ok, it was actally an important piece of equipement, but you can't blame me for giggling... especially with this hidden in amoung the display of fire extinquishers. bizarro! Also to raise a smile is the badge for one of the fellowship of firefighters. Wonder what it's like in Boys Town? Then there was the more serious stuff about history of Australian Fire Fighting. From horse drawn carts through to the modern engines they have today. Interesting stuff, and vital in a country so lacking in water. (Strangely enough through, considering they are usually in drought and doing rain dances etc - they still have one of these tucked away... Love the fact they have a painting of snow in the background so you can imagine how it all works! Gotta love it :oP
