Crikey!

Months ago when I first got to Oz, I decided there was a certain place I was going to go to, and today was the day...

Not too far from Brisbane is the home of the Australian Zoo. A must for me, as it is where Steve Irwin lives. I remember before I decided to go off on a wander that me and Dawn would sit around her house watching him and his Crocodile Hunter programme - addicted to it and unable to turn it off until the end - we were convinced every time he would get a chunk taken out of him the way he leaped on top of crocodiles without a care in the world... it never happened, mind - but one day :o)
Pretty soon we were in the thick of it, checking out the animals we got to see them all, and even got a chance to get up close and personal with a few of them:
Vonnie with baby croc,
Tasmainian Devil (sorry that its fuzzy, but it took about a half hour to get the picture - those things can run!) This is about the only half decent pic I got - despite sitting there at the encolsure for ages - I'm glad I went digital as I'd have used rolls of film to get blurry pictures!
Dingo, Wombat, Roo with Joey in pouch, Obgligatory pic of me with cute Koala - it just has to be done every time you see them!, petting the Roos, and the most important reason for going of all: watching them feed the crocs!
Crickey!, Very close call - have video footage of the croc feeding times - and they nearly got a few fingers aswell as their usual food!
After the thrills of the day - we drove off in the late afternoon to head for our next destination of the trip - Rainbow Beach - where we found a very luxurious appartment to stay in for a few days. Right on the beach with a spa and gym - the place was way nice - definatly a bit better than what I've been used to! We soon settled in and went in search of a bottle shop and a take away - prepared to chill out and enjoy the evening in our new found luxury.
