Woolgoolga - Bribie Island

After a chilled out couple of days in Woolgoolga, it was time to head back on the road and try to get further north.

Leaving behing Woolgoolga we settled into TC for a long day's drive. Today's route would take us up past Brisbane and along the Gold Coast.
Being on Route 1 (the Pacific Highway) meant we had stunning views around many corners, and as the signs for Byron Bay came closer, we decided to head out that way for a coffe break. If it appealed, we'd be staying the night.
Arriving in Byron was amazing. Since leaving Sydney we'd noticed the temperature rising steadily each day we headed further north. Byron was technically sunbathing weather :o) pure bliss!
We headed up through the town and over to the lighthouse. Snazzy had told me she's been up there and the views were fantastic. I have to say I agree with her.
The lighthouse is also home to a small museum with information about the area and the sea life found in the waters. They also do a very nice coffee :oP
Just a short walk from the lighthouse is Australia's most Easterly point. Now I have a mission to go to the west, south and north points before I leave next year.

My aversion to large towns and fondness for small places on roadtrips seemed to have rubbed off on Sue and Vonnie, as we made the decision to keep going that day rather than stay in Byron. Back in the car we got and headed out to Bribie Island.
