June 21, 2004The odyssey continues
Ladies and Gentlemen, I take great pleasure in introducing to you my new mode of transportation.. I give you (drum roll please) the Town Car. Ok so she aint too pretty at the moment, but give me a chance here - I'm working on it ;o) The Town Car (TC) is the most recent donation to the backpacker charity that is me. Not only am I freeloading accomodation in Adelaide (or more accurately, Salisbury East) but I now have the use of a motor to call my very own. A few years ago, Rob took the TC around Oz 1 & 1/2 times, so luckily for me, she knows the way. As I'm sure most of you are aware, my sense of direction leaves a smidgeon to be desired, so its all to the good. So it was a trip to the Clare Valley and his folks place to pick TC up (by the way, both the folks and their home are fab). After an excellent lunch, and a tour of the property, I got to drive the TC once it had been bump-started - a novelty as its the first time I've driven since leaving home, and it was certainly an experience nipping down 110kph country lanes in the dark. Rob in his new Holden Ute streaked ahead, so I chilled out and tootled along like the Sunday driver I am (I swear, my ideal car is a Volvo) and just made sure I could see his tail lights in the distance. The last week has involved getting a new battery (so she actually starts without being pushed), joining the RAA and geting various documentation sorted out. I even spent six and a half hours cleaning her of all the dirt and dust accumilated on her last Australian Odyssey. So here she is now in all her glory. You may be wondering why TC is kind of squished on the front? I swear it wasn't me - Rob hit a 'Roo in December on the way from the city to his folks. I figure lightning doesn't strike twice, so its one less thing to worry about. Anyway - that's it for the introductions, I'm pretty confident you'll be seeing a LOT more of the Town Car before too long. I know I will be :oD Comments
Hurrah - another car that won't care if the odd wall jumps out in front (or behind) you ;o) Oooh - road trip - I'm sooo jealous :o( Adelaide looks fab btw Birdage :oD Posted by: Dawn on June 22, 2004 11:31 AMBird, Tee hee... I knew it wouldnt be long till you would be terrorising the roads of Oz... just make sure you stay the right way up, avoid any nasty looking walls/trees and it should be no problem ;-) Posted by: Sal on July 5, 2004 11:56 AM |
