March 29, 2004Finding Nemo
After a bit of a lie in, I mooched on over to the aquarium to see a bit of sea life... I've never been much of a one for fish or indeed anything that lives in the water, but after not being able to find the duck billed platypus yesterday at the zoo, I was determined to see one for myself. No-one else was able to get out of bed in time to come with me (another late night) so I headed off on my own to see the marine wonders of Australia. The walk to the aquarium was interupted by a little shopping (you know, it wasn't until I started to write this stuff down that I realised how much I shopped) I do have a solid excuse though - it was sale (ie 1/2 price) at Kathmandu and I needed a new daypack (have now gone through 2 in 2 months - thought I'd buy a decent one this time) and a couple of other bits.. well impressed with the sale - and the guy behind the counter wasn't so shabby either! mmmmm Anyway - back on topic, I got the the aquarium, and have to say was a wee bit disapointed, but that's prob because I just don't have a thing for sealife..? Anyhow - saw the Platypus, platy 2, platy 3 and also saw a couple of Seals, a few sharks, jellyfish, and this (no idea what it is, but its so ugly its cute). I found nemo aswell and enjoyed a fairly chilled afternoon mooching about. You've heard of the phrase big fish in a small pond? Well, it was there too. They let you touch some of the stuff too, so I can now say I have stroked a starfish (and not everyone can say that, eh?) It felt pretty much the same as the elephant I got all up close and personal with in Thailand - not at all the way you'd imaging a starfish to feel. All rough and a bit like a pumice stone. Anyway - that was my weekend, totally gutted that I forgot about a "meet the Neighbours" night in the city yesterday - apparently Toadfish and Dr Karl Kennedy were among the stars... imagine if I'd met Harold Bishop? You'd all be so jealous! Oh well, maybe when I get out that way I can mix with the celebrities..? Enjoy the week peeps, gotta go earn some cash now... Comments
