Airports, airports and yet more airports

Well, after a few weeks of loafing around on a beach, its time to head out to Oz and another time zone.

Just thought that I would share the photos of the funkiest airport ever with you: the departure terminal View image passport control View image runway View image how cool is that?
I wasn't kidding when I told you it was made of palm trees ;o)
Anyway - after a morning of sunbathing, I headed off the island on the 2pm plane to Bangkok. After being told my luggage had gone missing (eek!) I was then advised it had arrived just as I was getting on the plane headed for Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (it was cheaper than flying direct for some reason)
After the scare of the luggage, didn't really settle into the flight, but that was ok as it was only about an hour and a half from BKK to Vietnam. With just under an hour to transfer my flight, I didn't have the time to get any stamps in my passport *sob* will have to get them next time..
The plane from HCM was much more relaxed than the flight in there - until the lights all went off... having just been told by a girl I met at the airport about a flight where the electrics failed, I have to say I wasn't sure if they failed or were turned off as we were flying at night (the TVs/radios etc all went off aswell). I chose to believe it was the night option and went to sleep. Waking up after an hours sleep I realised we were only another hour till Sydney.
Arriving was a bit of a culture shock - the signs made sense - I got through passport control in minutes (including getting my work visa) and was out the door with my luggage within about half an hour. The airport pickup from the hostel failed to arrive, but a guy touting for backpackers gave me a free lift there anyway (hurrah!). Arrived in another cuntry and settling in!
By the way - the toilets really DO flush the other way :oP
