The trip to Udaipur

Following a whirlwind couple of nights in Jodphur, the day long bus trip to Udaipur seemed like a good time to catch up on a bit of sleep...

Either the bus driver had a death wish, or he was sure of his good kharma. We hurtled past vehicles, overtaking infront of oncoming traffic and generally sped out of Jodphur like the hounds of hell were at our heels.
After a while (and passing the wreckage of a few bus crashes) I decided the best option was to plug in my cd player, and try to sleep.
After the wedding plus the stomach pains I had been having resulting in little sleep the night before, in next to no time I was out for the count. About 2 hours later I woke up in time for a chai, samosa and comfort stop - perfect timing! Back on the bus meant back to sleep. Around 5ish we arrived in Udaipur.
Looking out of the windows as I arrived, I instantly felt that I would like this town. The roundabouts had fountains, the shops looked good, and it is home to the lake palace that was a main location for the bond film Octopussy - what more could I ask for?
We had time for a quick orientation tour of the town (apparently a very good place to buy silver) including a trip to a shop where they make minature paintings - the guy painted a peacock on my nail! Its perfect and so tiny!
Then we headed out for dinner with a stunning view and yet more fireworks.
