the adventure begins

Leaving Sydney is always nice when you're heading off into the sunset...

ok - so it was more of a daytime heading off - and it did take us over half an hour. Even with the 2 of us in the car we still got madly lost for a while till we had it all figured out again and were soon crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and heading off for an adventure.
We drove for about 6 hours solid north, playing cds, giggling and generally getting highly excited about the adenture we were starting.
It takes a few hours to leave Sydney - you drive through all kinds of towns and cities until you finally hit country New South Wales.
Once on Route 1 out of Sydney, there is a rather funky petrol station called the Big Rock it's as close to the real Ayres rock as I've gotten to as yet - but def worth a visit if you're ever in the area...

We were determined to get as far away as possible during day 1 - and ended up at Nambucca Heads.
Nambucca is a lovely quiet little town, and we were sharing a motel with a whole bunch of road workers, so we got a bit of conversation while sitting on our balcony watching the sun set over the fields surrounding the town.
All in all - a fab day to begin with!
