Waking at 7am to a hot cup of chai and a sunrise over the dunes in the dessert is just about the best thing I have done since arriving in India.

The silence of the dunes was amazing - I havent heard such little noise for a very long time, and have never camped out below the stars before. Ive always been in a tent, but lying in the sand and watching the full moon and the stars last night was so peaceful - until the dog came along and started barking, and the camels started farting etc etc, but trust me - it was still almost silent compared to anywhere else I have seen!
The sun rise was amazing to see, and all I had to do was roll over in my sleeping bag to see it! View image
By 9am we were packed up and back on the camels again. We all kept the same rides, and I like to think mine remembered me - he was certainly a bit more easy going today when getting up and down to let me on and off! The ride back seemed a lot quicker than the ride there, as did the jeep back into jaisalmer...

By 12.30 we were back in the town - just enough time for a spot more shopping (I finally found the perfect top, hurrah for shopping!) and to grab something to eat (and another banana lassi - another favourite) before getting on the bus to Jodphur (6hr journey).
Tomorrow we will be heading on a bit of an orientation of the city, but for tonight it'll be another cold beer and a great view! By the way - its roasting here now in the daytime - dont know the temp, but its like a long hot summer day... Going through the sun cream, at least the backpack will be lighter!
After eating another huge meal, 3 of us went for a bit of a wander through Jodphur, and heard music and saw bright lights all over a house. Being the curious sorts, off we went to the house and found ourselves in the midst of some wedding celebrations! View image
Within about half an hour the family had insisted we dress up and join in with the festivities instead of watching from the sidelines View image

were so friendly, and insisted we returned the following night to continue the celebrations. What an amazing night!
