May 26, 2004Berliner moodswings # 1
Berlin is a city with many different faces, and apparantly it can inspire many different moods in me. Monday I had planned to go on a boattrip from Treptower Park, not far from where my friends with whom I´m staying live, to Köpenick and the Müggelsee in the far south-east of the city. I have been here many times so I have nearly exhausted the list of touristy things to do, and this sounded like something fun and different. But when I got to Treptower Park in the morning, all of a sudden I started wondering do I really feel like spending all day on a boat in this miserable weather? and decided against it. But I didn´t really feel like doing anything else either, so all I did was aimlessly wander around Treptow, Friedrichshain, Mitte and Kreuzberg, until I finally forced myself to at least do something useful if I wasn´t going to have fun, and bought the train ticket from Prague to Antwerp for my journey back home next month. I realize that, had I been in this melancholy mood in a city I had not been to before, I probably would´ve blamed it on the city. Comments
