Sydney - Melbourne Day 2

Leaving the blue mountains and heading to Katoomba

I spent the night in the YHA - ab fab place - the tv they had was the largest I've seen in my life. After a quick brekkie it was back on the bus and off to check out the Three Sisters. The basic story goes that there were 3 tasty sisters in one tribe that 3 guys in the neighbouring tribe fancied the pants off. They tried to marry them, but got the brush off coz they were the magicians kids and as such had to marry into their own tribe or it would be bad luck. The 3 brothers decided to take the girls by force, so their dad turned them into stone and threw his wand into the ravine. His spell said that he would turn them back once the battle was over. He died in the fight and there they still stand. Apparently if you can find the wand, you can turn them back. I didn't find it though, so they're still stuck up on the side of the mountain. Oh well, such is life.

After all the walking, we were kind of shattered, so took the worlds steepest railway back up to the top. The seats are at about 45 degrees and when you get on its really uncomfy and to be fair, i didn't figure out why until the train started and we tipped right forward because of the incline of the track. Amazing experience, but not for you if you are scared of hights at all - way better than most rollercoasters!

The Jenolan Caves were stunning. Check out these pictures View image, View image. I love stuff like this. It makes me feel all insignifiant when you think that in thousands of years one of these colums will have only grown by about an inch, when so much will have changed for evreyone else. Caves like these put history into perspective for me in a way.
Katoomba - a kind of blink and you miss it sort of place was my hometown for the second night of the tour.
