playing tourist

It's been a while since I did much in the way of the touristy thing, and i lurve to see the sights, so today me and Krys went off and did some stuff.

After going out last night to say goodbye to Charlotte after her last day at work, Krys spent the night at my hotel (and was overjoyed to stay in a bunk bed as it meant getting the first lie-in she has had for 2 months looking after 4 boys as a nanny!) we didn't get up exactly early to head on out for our day of being tourists.

oh yeah - quick whinge before I forget: They don't have bonfire night here - ok so it's a British thing, but it's cool and I missed playing with sparklers and watching fireworks go off. Ooooh yeah and another thing - they put the xmas trees up at work on friday night - what's that all about? It's only November 5th for pities sake! OK - whinge over :o)

Anyway - When we finally managed to drag ourselves up and out of the hotel, it was to discover that it was a really lovely hot, sunny day! Bliss!

I realise I've been a bit lapse really in not showing you some of the normal views you get around Sydders, so here you go - this is the view when you get off the train at Circular Quay train station, from the platform.

The Quay is lovely - the whole place is filled with street performers (ok so the photo is pants, but if you look really close, can you see a guy climbing down the side of the bike on a stick? He's just climbing down after balancing on top of the bike and juggling a knife, a fire stick and an apple. Most impressive, but I was too busy watching to take photos - sorry!) and maps just casually strewn about.

Just out of the Quay is the Rocks - here are some pics of there in the daytime (this is where I did that ghost tour a while ago) random building, bike tour stall, the market, and a general shot of the area. All in all a lovely place to spend a chilled out afternoon.

However, we weren't spending a chilled out afternoon on the Rocks - we were off on a captain cooks boat trip, where we sailed past the opera house, and a total stranger was nice enough to take a piccie of me and Krys together (It turned out really dark so have lightened it in a dodgy manner :oP and no - we're not wearing her's and her's matching clothes - it wasn't planned but just kind of happened without thinking, besides, I'd just spilled Thai curry sauce all over my top *classy* and had to cover up.)

Remember i told you about how creepy Luna Park looks? Well I finally managed to get a piccie of it that proves to you just how scary the park is - urgh! Not been there yet - and don't really intend to go - apparently to get into the park you have to walk in through the mouth... I'd have nightmares for sure!

We came back from the harbour using the monorail, it's the first time I've used it - I took a piccy of the monorail station aswell for you - just to show I care :oP

Here's a pic of the obersation tower taken from the monorail station. It's the tallest building in Sydney - and it's on my list of things to do when D-bird gets out here!

Oh well that's about it for me today, I'm off to the pub.
