Bangkok

Another day, another country...

Calcutta airport was a revelation compared to the chaos of my arrival into Mumbai. I checked in and got through passport control with the minimum of hassle. The only strange thing was that I had to go out onto the tarmac and ID my bags so they could be loaded onto the plane. :o)
After only a short flight I emerged from the Bangkok airport into humidity to locate a taxi to the hostel I had booked. Third time lucky, I managed to get one for the recommended price of 200baht. Arriving at Big Johns place I settled in within no time, and hit the internet (notice how many entries have been made since finding a place that has a fast connection???) Despite it being a short flight I was shattered (I think a couple of sleepless nights added to that feeling), so after meeting a couple of others staying here I headed out for dinner with them and then headed off to bed.
The next day, I pretty much did nothing but laze around. The only thing of note that I accomplished, was to decide that the beach of choice for me is to be Ko Samui. I've checked out the price of flights etc, and extended my stay at the hostel by another night (but this time in a private room - yippee!)
So altogether I spent 3 nights in Bangkok and saw pretty much nothing. I booked my flights, had a 2 hour massage (ouch!) did a little bit of shopping...
Now I'm heading off to a beach that looks like paradise. I will have to "do" Bangkok on the way back again as I've not had the motivation so far :o)
Seen some more elephants though :o)
