Angel Falls
24 Feb – 26 Feb, 2005
Trip to Canaima, and Angel Falls, the world’s highest. Travelled by small plane to Canaima, then by boat, spending two nights near the falls. Very impressive.
Jungle, from the air. En-route to Canaima, from a 6-seater plane. Not a break in the trees, other than the water courses.
About 100m of the trail is behind the torrent of water. It is like a wall, although near the edges, the force is a little less and you can see out. Yes, we got wet! Very wet! Although, there are some amazingly dry pockets to be found.
Poisonous tree frog. Complete with bright warning colours.
Salto Angel – Angel Falls – World’s highest. 979m! There is no way that this photo can convey the height of almost 1 km that the falls drop. Even standing at a distance, or standing almost at the base, we could not comprehend the scale. Really, a magnificent sight.
Bathing at the base of Angel Falls. Not directly under – I don’t know if it would be possible to bear the water coming down from that height – After the first cascade.
Impromptu umbrella. Caught out by a sudden downpour.
Falls at Canaima.
