It´s just great to see happy couples in love. But, some people here in Spain bring the Seinfeld "Schmoopie" episode to an entirely new level. I feel like I am watching "Lady and the Tramp" 24/7, everywhere I go. I see two possible reasons why it´s like this here.

First, it seems like Europeans are a little more affection than Americans. That´s fine, I can deal with it.

Second, it´s common here for people to live with their parents until they are married. For this reason, there are many people in their late 20´s and early 30´s that still live with their family. If that´s the case, I guess they take it to the streets.

When it´s warm out, it isn´t uncommon to walk through a park and see a couple all over each other on a park bench. There have been times when I really thought it was appropriate to walk up to them and make sure they had a condom...but, since I didn´t know how to say it in Spanish, I didn´t.

But, what I witnessed the other day was definitely a first. I was waiting for the Metro the other day and on the platform, directly across from me was a couple on a bench just hanging all over each other. Now, it wasn´t like it was late at night and we were the only people in the station. It was like 4pm. There were like a hundred people on each platform. It was like a train wreck or car accident...horrible, but I couldn´t look away. But, I was saved. Their train was arriving. Much to my dismay, the train left...WITHOUT THEM. Apparently, they decided that their make-out spot was such prime real estate, they couldn´t give it up yet. It got so bad that I actually got up and moved the other end of the platform just so they weren´t right in my line of sight. To my knowledge, they are still there right now groping each other violently.
