In two weeks I will be homeless!

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Last night a group of my closest friends met at an amazing sushi restaurant to celebrate my 26th birthday and some great news; I found a buyer for my house about a month ago, and just got their mortgage commitment this week. The house is sold, and there are no more obstacles in the way. In two weeks I will be officially homeless! Not the type of homeless that finds me sleeping in a cardboard box, but the good kind… the type that allows me to backpack around the world for the next couple years. [read on]

New York City: Opportunity Knocks

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

12:30 – Hamilton, NJ – It’s been exactly one month since I’ve returned from Spain to US soil. My wanderlust has been far from quenched, and I yearn for the day I can leave this dull town once more. My house, the key to my impending freedom, is also the very rope that ties me to this place. So today I’m bound for New York City. It is not only a day trip and diversion from the monotony of life in Hamilton, but also a step towards cutting this metaphoric rope.

I have an interview with Norwegian Cruise Lines. I figure if I’ve got to sustain my property any longer, I might as well be doing it in style[read on]

11.20 – Final Thoughts during Final Descent

Monday, November 20th, 2006

19:40 – Somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean – The airline just announced our final descent into NYC. Although I still have a few more hours of transport before I’m home I already feel the trip ending. This has been a truly amazing experience; one intense week of learning and living life to the fullest. I’ve been inspired to open my eyes and reach a new understanding of my place in the world.    [read on]

11.19 – A Walk in the Park

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

Not a single day so far has been a disappointment. Each moment has been drastically different than the last. Today was no exception…

After a late night of drinking and an amazing conversation with Melissa, I awoke around noon. As I came downstairs the sound of whistles and drums began to fill the air Sml speaker. Directly in front of the hostel was a parade/demonstration to change a local law involving child custody rights. Pretty random, but only held interest for so long.

I met with Melissa, who spent the morning befriending a cool girl from Canada named Emily. The three of us decided to find some food. A few minutes into our walk we drawn to the sound of live music coming from the nearby Plaza De La Reina. We found a lot of people hanging out continuing the demonstration that we witnessed earlier. We only stayed a short while… enjoying the beautiful weather, and listening to the sounds Sml speaker of a funk band.

After we found our meal in a sub shop, we decided to head to the Turia Gardens. As we strolled through the park we came across a variety of unexpected locales and interesting characters. [read on]

11.18 – “Did those kids just steal your wallet?”

Saturday, November 18th, 2006
What a crazy day!

Last night, Melissa, Yoann and I decided we would find the ingredients to cook paella (a popular Spanish rice dish). In the morning, Melissa and I set off in search of a huge local market we passed last night. Unsure of it’s location, we just chose a direction and hoped for the best. “Um… let’s go that way”

Within a few minutes of walking, we found the greatest surprise: The Torres de Serrans, a large castle gate like structure that used to be an entrance through the old medieval city wall. To our surprise it was open to the public, and free of charge. We made our way to the topall the way past the gated off ladder to the flagpole! Up there it became apparent how wondrous this city is.   [read on]

Conquering Fear

Monday, September 25th, 2006

One of my biggest fears about traveling the world for an extended period of time was that I would have to do it on my own. It’s wasn’t solitude or separation from my friends that made me nervous. I was more concerned about being lost in a foreign city with no idea of where to go or what to do.

This past weekend I came to realize how absurd that was. I was called for a job in Baltimore, MD (about 4 hours away from my home). I was set up with a nice hotel room, and had a great crew to work and socialize with. However, I decided to avoid those comforts brave the city on my own. [read on]

HOW: My Plan

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

There are a lot of things to gain from this experience. I plan to expand knowledge of myself as well as the others that occupy this vast world. But all anxious speculation aside, I need a plan to turn these dreams into a reality.

I’ve made the resolution to sell my house, car, and most of my worldly possessions. I will leave a few mementos of the past with my mother, as well as the recording equipment so I can resume business upon return. I will be giving anything I can’t sell to friends, or donating it to goodwill. The goal is to get enough money together to purchase a flight out the country, buy a pack and other gear, have enough left over to travel for about a year on a less than moderate budget, and put the rest in a CD waiting for return to a new life. WHY: Once Upon A Time

Sunset on the Pacific Ocean

My name is Adam. I have been living and traveling on this planet for twenty five years, yet haven’t seen nearly enough of it. So I have made the decision to sell almost everything I own and wander the earth for an indefinite period of time… six months, a year, perhaps for the rest of my days. [read on]
