Plage Les Hattes near Awala Yalimopu is a beach in the north western corner of French Guiana. 2 nights in a row, we have wandered up and down the beaches with torches at ridiculous hours searching for the giant leatherback turtles who come ashore to lay their eggs. Both nights we had success, finding 4 giant leatherbacks and 1 green sea turtle.

On the beach at 2 in the morning, she has come to lay her eggs in a ritual that takes about an hour. (The turtle, that is!)
