July 30, 2005Sleeping on tables amongst other things
The rude shock of being back in China came this morning after a night of sleeping on a bed as hard as a table. Crooked neck, light beaming through the window and not being able to drink straight from the tap with a mild hangover. Why oh why do I love it here? Our little walk through the village and amongst the meat and markets getting our simple baozi's for breaky and the constant stare. I haven't seen a pig for some time so the sheer size of their unshaved legs and trotters came as a shock, the smell didn't seem to affect me like two years ago on arrival where Trev and I would tag team half way through the bargaining. The staring I assume was some of rememberance for me and others just from sheer curiosity. Things are moving along quickly here as far as construction goes but there are still heaps of simple things to amuse both Trev and I and the locals to our reactions of them. Comments
