Meet Gert

I bought a car. A 1993 Mazda Cronus. Not exactly the fun, carefree Jeep Wrangler I pictured myself touring around in, wind in my hair. But, I discovered that “fun” isn’t really the adjective for cars under $2000. “Practical” isn’t really either. “Sufficient?”

The mechanic put some of my fears at ease though and advised, “Treat er like yuh grandmutha, n she’ll do just fine.” A grandmother she is too, my Gerti. My first cautious drive around town yesterday inspired this little ditty (I trust you’ll pick up on the tune):

My cronie has a first name,
it’s G-E-R-T-I,
Oh my cronie has a second name,
It’s BETTA-GETMEBY.
She’s old, she’s grey, her joints they creak,
So “Why’d I buy?!” to this I”ll speeeeeak…
Cuz cronie’s fit to carry all the shit
of little C-I-N-D-Y. 🙂

Current stats:
Times I climbed into the passenger side: 3
Times I turned on the windshield wipers instead of blinker: 8
Number of things hit: 0!!
Best surprise: oscillating air vents
Current mystery: “Corner guides” button
