Beautiful Angkor Wat!!!

April 11th, 2007

WOW!!!!! Three days have passed and I’m still in awe. Angkor Wat is fantastic in size, work, beauty and splendor. The temples, the largest religious complex in the world, were built between the 9th and the 13th century by the Khmer empire, an empire that was spread from Myanmar to Vietnam.
This place was so important that at it’s climax had 1 million inhabitants while London was only a small town with 50.000!!!! Read the rest of this entry »

The beauty and the horror of Phnom Penh

April 7th, 2007

I had heard from some trevelers that Cambodia was a difficult country, with agressive people and horror on the streets. My own opinion is totally different. I find people very friendly around here. It is true that they come to you a bit more agressively than in Laos or Thailand, but after being here for a couple of days, and getting to know their history a little bit, I find them charming Read the rest of this entry »

Finally in Laos

March 23rd, 2007

Hey people!!! Wow I’m finally in Laos!! I’m only in the border town, and yep it looks just like a border town. Not very nice or many things to do, but it’s the start of a great trip. I’ll leave tomorrow to Luang Nam Tha to do some treking and see a bit of the rural life from Laos. Oh by the way, I finally know why people say Lao and not Laos, and it’s because the French put a silent “S” after the original name, while they had control over the country.
Anyway, I have to go, the internet is dead slow and the new currency, Kip, it’s driving me crazy!!!!!!

Chao!!!

Simon =)

p.s. Beer Lao RULES!!!!

It’s time to say: Sawadee Kap Thailand

March 22nd, 2007

It’s hard to tell when you are staying too long in a place. How is it that you know?? Is it that everything that was awesome seems boring now? Or is it that the people you meet everyday don’t make your day anymore? I don’t have an answer for that, but if those are the reasons, I shouldn’t leave Read the rest of this entry »

HIT HIM WITH THE KNEE!!!!!!

March 14th, 2007

I had never been to a fight before. I had never seen people going up to a ring with the intention to hit and get hitten by each other. I had never felt the adrenaline, the anxiety and the pain, the way you feel it in a Muay Thai fight. Now, I know Read the rest of this entry »

Pai!!!

March 10th, 2007

Hurray for Pai!!!! It’s beautiful!! It’s 4 hours north from Chiang Mai, surrounded by mountains, trees, fresh air and a river 🙂 Almost all the guesthouses are beside the river and are actually wooden huts with a small porch, a mattress and a mosquito net. What else do you need?? Read the rest of this entry »

Ok, ok, I didn’t make it to the red carpet, but it was fun and totally a new experience!!
