Beautiful and colonial, Luang Prabang
Declared a world heritage site by the UNESCO a couple of years ago, this French colonial city it’s definitely a place to visit and fall in love with it’s architecture, it’s people and it’s food, ohhh yeah fall in love with the food!!!!
I met David on the bus from the Thai border to Luang Nam Tha and because of things from the destiny I met him again in the bus to Luang Prabang. Thank God because otherwise the eternal bus ride would have being unbearable. As we were walking through
the night market still with our pack on, we bumped into Paola and Giorgio!!! 🙂 We had dinner, and the next day we went to a beautiful waterfall, where you can swim in fresh turquoise waters!!! It was amazing…
The food I was mentioning before, it’s an awesome breakfast I’ve being eating for three day in a row!! How was I going to let this opportunity go away so easy?? French bakery, with spinach and cheese croissant and real coffee with free refill!!! he he, for dessert chocolate croissant!!! 🙂
Luxury in Asia belive me!!! enjoy it while you are in the west!
David, Giorgio and Paola left for Vang Vieng, and I stayed for one more day. I visit a beautiful temple and had a lovely stroll around the city. Last night as I was walking thru the market, a loud noise freighted me. I didn’t know what it was, but everyone started packing their things very quickly. Then the noise came again, and I knew what it was, a tropical storm. Knowing already what a storm in the tropic is like, I ran to my hotel with drops already falling on my shoulders. It was wicked! I hadn’t felt one in ages, luckily I had my camera nearby…
Today at 05:30, I saw the Buddhist tradition of food begging. Dozens of monks, all wearing bright orange robes, walk barefoot thru the streets, where lay disciples offer sticky rice, fruit and vegetables. All is done in complete silence and it’s really touching.
I’m now in Vang Vieng, the city of tubing. It seems alright but further exploration will be made. You’ll hear from this mission soon enough…
enjoy!!!!
simon =)
WOW!!!! this is the BBQ I ate the other night!! nice eh?? Beside of the BBQ you had boiling soup where you could cook noodles and vegetable as well!!
