There isn’t enough latex in the world to make this not pretty

Yay! The Daily Show and Colbert Report are back!!! Both are great episodes, Steven’s particularly so because the night’s word is about the republicans trying to steal electoral votes in California (the courage campaign thing I’ve been posting about). Go watch it over at comedy central.

Current pastime? Downloading pics of Blaqk audio

Hmmm – so what is up with me? I went to the gym tuesday night and rocked out, thankyouverymuch.  Fed the ducks on the river on my way home (they’re these really pretty black/white/ and reddish-brown ones). I was going to go to yoga yesterday, but my paycheck came in and I had, had, had to buy groceries (seriously – I had some polenta in my fridge and that was IT), so I went to pak n save instead. I’m reading Little Tiny Teeth by Aaron Elkins. My power cord has officially died. I’ve been trying to contact Dell to see if I can replace just it, instead of buying the universal power cord from the electronics store (very pricey). I’ve got my battery and cord with me so I can go check after work (since I can’t leave for lunch today ‘cuz I’m all by lonesome). I’ve finished all the work I can do for now and it’s 10am. Sooo… I’m quietly watching youtube vids and reading gofug yourself. I actually got in touch with Alison, which is the most exciting thing ever, because I’m not sure she and I have managed to connect in at least a year. I passed on an email chain for recipes and now I’m getting all sorts of exciting things back.

I’m bored. Maybe I’ll call the local radio station and see if I can convince them to play some blaqk audio.

Hey! Youtube has my favorite live garbage song ever! Go check it out here. Awww… this is the only one I keep on my laptop so I can watch it whenever I want. It’s got the singing in the rain intro, the repeated “pour your misery down” and Shirley talking at the end (“have a grrreat night!”) Yay!

You can vote on what to do with Bond’s 756 ball here. I’ll be honest – I voted for them to just put it in the hall of fame.

Bay Area traffic 2nd worse in US. Awesome. Reasons to improve public transport…

In other traffic-related news; digging starts on Devil’s slide tunnel with environmentalist at the helm.

Jury at an impasse in Spector murder trial.

Hee – I love this – from Grist; “If you’ll be in San Francisco between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, be sure to have a candle handy. Green group Lights Out San Francisco is encouraging residents to turn off all unnecessary lights during that hour to raise awareness of energy use. Nate Tyler, a former Google spokesperson who is spearheading the campaign, was inspired by a trip to Sydney during its annual light-extinguishing Earth Hour in March; he has printed up “Good Things Happen in the Dark” T-shirts and plans to give away 110,000 energy-efficient bulbs on the day of darkness. Just imagine: Without light pollution from homes, car-lot floodlights, movie marquees, and high-rises, San Franciscans will be able to take out their telescopes and have a nice clear view of the fog.” Is SF still the number 1 solar city? Because that’s funny.

Lowering pesticide use lowers suicide rates and asthma rates for farmers.

I really like Cleolinda’s reaction to the new Prince Caspian poster, “Prince Caspian poster! Frrrowr.” I’m not sure that’s a sound I’ve heard before. Also from cleolinda; “NYC street corner named for Jerry Orbach. Awww.” Bale feels ‘natural’ speaking with American accent. [Ed; this is worth it for one of the follow up comments, “He can speak in any accent he wants with a face and body like that. mmm. But my drawers do kinda melt when he does his English accent. Num nums.” Yet another new sound for the day…] The cattiest, evillest, wonderfullest Sean Young interview/profile ever.

A list of the top 100 living actors (both sexes). [Ed; And by actors, they mean movie actors, not tv or theater. And from what I can tell, someone just posted this list – I don’t see a formula as to how they arrived at their conclusions, which are pretty awful. The list skews male and old. Kate winslet has got to be the youngest person on there by at least 10 years. And any list that doesn’t include Christian Bale and Sam Rockwell is just wrong. Furthermore – Harrison Ford is pretty close to the top. Really? He’s done like 2 serious roles and nothing good in a looong time. The list is pretty much like that.]

Hmmmm – that’s pretty much it from here for now. Slow news day and all. I’m gonna go read some more.

musica; between breaths (an XX perspective) – blaqk audio, again again again – blaqk audio, do you wanna touch me (live) – joan jett, tell me where it hurts – garbage, only happy when it rains (live) – garbage, Jesus of suburbia – green day, what you waiting for – Gwen Stefani, Silver and cold – AFI, I predict a riot – kaiser chiefs
