I really have no idea what to say. I was pessimistic about this election, but deep down I didnīt really think it was possible for Bush to win again. Mainly, I was pessimistic was because I was convinced they would cheat and steal votes again. So far I havenīt heard anything about stuff like that. I guess that is good, but the flip side of it means that people actually wanted this man in office again. Not quite sure what is worse. How is that possible? Is it his "macho" attitude and false bravado? The man dodged the draft and then had the nerve to call a war hero unfit. Is it because he acts like America can do as it pleases whenever and wherever we want without answering to anyone? He has failed at almost every step of the way and it is extremely hard for me to comprehend how he won the popular vote. He turned the largest projected budget surplus in history into the largest deficit. He has been the worst enivornmental president ever. He invaded a sovereign (albeit bad) country on false merits (some would say LIES, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt). He has alienated large swaths of the world. It is depressing and I am embarassed to be an American today. I was sitting in class all morning making myself sick to my stomach. At one point, I thought I was going to throw up (no joke) and seriously considering running out of the class and into the bathroom. I didnīt, but maybe it would have made me feel better. Itīs funny...a few years ago, America had allies across the globe. Today, we can count England, Poland, and very few others as true allies. Doesnīt that scare anyone else? If not, it should. Itīs funny, so far I have run into people from all over Europe here. They donīt hate us and I have not encountered any anti-American sentiment directed towards me personally, but they hate our government and our hypocritical policies. People ask, "Is America really like George Bush?" I used to say no, but now all I can say is... "I really hope not!" Comments
I too almost vomitted at the results, it is very hard to stomach the fact that we have to hang through Bush's crusade for another 4 years. It's insane to even try to comprehend that statement, 4 more years, I get chills up my spine thinking about it. We can only hope that he is caught having "relations" with a White House intern. Maybe that way we can impeach him... for some reason the other BS he's doing doesn't warrent that yet! PEACE Posted by: Jamie R. on November 3, 2004 02:43 PMI'm going to link your entry to my blog, folinazzo.com. I, too, asked "What the hell is wrong with the ignorant people of this country?" How can we re-elect Bush into office again? I'm sad today. I had to hold back the tears when I checked my voicemail at work a couple of hours ago and listened to the taunting (from a family member, no less) "Kerry's conceding right now, so if you have a chance to watch the news today, you'll hear his speech!" Posted by: Felicia on November 3, 2004 03:00 PMI think the worst part was trying to cope with the fact that I held the "minority" opinion, when infact i have to keep reminding myself that ~49 mil people here were on my side yesterday. I will forever be suspicious of the Diebold Machines. No receipts? I mean, we could have been duped by "faulty" chips or programing with out ever knowing it. All this turn out, and we still lost? Are you kidding me? So many evil thoughts run through my head, trying to think how the hell to cope with this... maybe i should give it a day or 200 before i start writing truely how i feel. Posted by: Newman on November 3, 2004 06:14 PMi just wrote a big long post about the election. but i hit tab and the whole fucking thing got erased. but here is the jist of it. a sitting liberal senator from mass cant win a national election. no sitting member of congress has done it since 60, and kerry is no jfk.
personality counts. people want to vote for someone they like. being really smart and articulate only makes you look elitist. gore and kerry are proof of that. karl rove is a genius. he said that in 00, 3 to 4 million christian conservatives stayed home. so this time, he played to the base, instead of the center like most candidates do. and the result? dubya will win by between 3 and 4 million votes. dems should not depend on young voters. its great that they came out, but they were trumped by every other age group. dems need to appeal to middle class, middle aged white people again. values and morals was the #1 issue of voters this time around. dems need to realize that the values of hollywood and nyc dont mean much to the rest of the nation. show everyone that you have faith too. the gop should not have a monopoly on spirituality. the dems big issue, the economy, didnt mean as much as the wars and values. people would rather take the known and bad, instead of the unknown and possibly better. that was tough luck for the dems. prescription for 08 THE CONSPIRACY IS FULED.... Machine Error Gives Bush Extra Ohio Votes Nov 5, 11:56 AM (ET) COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - An error with an electronic voting system gave President Bush 3,893 extra votes in suburban Columbus, elections officials said. Franklin County's unofficial results had Bush receiving 4,258 votes to Democrat John Kerry's 260 votes in a precinct in Gahanna. Records show only 638 voters cast ballots in that precinct. Bush actually received 365 votes in the precinct, Matthew Damschroder, director of the Franklin County Board of Elections, told The Columbus Dispatch. State and county election officials did not immediately respond to requests by The Associated Press for more details about the voting system and its vendor, and whether the error, if repeated elsewhere in Ohio, could have affected the outcome. The Secretary of State's Office said Friday it could not revise Bush's total until the county reported the error. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20041105/D865R1DO0.html Posted by: Newman on November 5, 2004 03:49 PMSorry i'm such a horrible speller...
