Sabaideeeeee!

"Sabaideeeeeee!" Shouts every little child at you as you sail through the Laos countryside in the back of a songthaew or on a bike! They come chasing after you with the biggest smiles I have ever seen and keep waving either until their hands fall off or you can't see them any more! It puts a smile on my face everytime I see this!

So I spent a few days in Luang Prabang. A beautiful city that looks like it could possibly be set somewhere in Europe and not in Southeast Asia. Nicola, Oliver (a Brit we met traveling) and I drove out to a water fall on our first night in Luang Prabang. It was a bumpy ride through the mountains in the back of a songthaew. We got there just as the sun was setting. We jumped into a long tail boat and sailed for about 5 minutes down the river. Then got out to see the waterfall. It was already cold, but we all jumped into the freezing cold waters to swim. Of course we were the only people there since it was late. We swam around for about 30 minutes and then got back on our boat and then in the songthaew for a freezing cold ride back to town! Nice and refreshing. Oh, and of course my hand was tired of waving and my voice was sore from shouting "sabaideeee!" out the back the whole way!
