Shop till you drop! Or hopefully not!

Wow...if I was using a credit card, it would be on fire by now! The shopping Hoi An is amazing! I think I just bought a whole new wardrobe!

So after Hue I took a bus ride down to Hoi An. As I remembered from stopping in Vietnam on the Peace Boat in Danang, some people went down to the capital of having clothes made, otherwise known as Hoi An....so I hot footed it over there...and came away with much heavier bags!

The streets are literally just lined and lined with cloth shops on all sides of the street and on every street too, all wanting to make you tailor made clothes. Not to mention that the quaint town of Hoi An is old and picturesque too and a nice place to see...but the first two days that I was there all I saw was a lot of material!

I didn't know which shop to go into first, but I had a recommendation from another traveler who I had met earlier, but she had never been there, her travel agent recommended this tailor to her! I hunted it down and had a few things made there. Went to another place and had a dress made there. Then later that night went into a beautiful shop and was just too overwhelmed to order anything at all.

The next day I picked up my pants from the first shop...they were super cheap, but the quality was definately lacking. Same as in the second shop that I went to, they were rude, I had to go back at least 10 times until it was finished and the quality was TERRIBLE! However, I went back to the nice shop the next morning...and I think I bought out the whole store. The quality was amazing...despite having to pay a bit more.

And this shop invited me to their New Years Party! It was wonderful. I showed up and there must have been about 200 people outside in the courtyard of the tailor's shop. About half the people were Vietnamese, the other half foreign customers who had shopped there and their friends. There was a huge table filled with food, all you can eat and the free drinks just kept coming to our table, beer, wine, champange....it was nice. Sparklers all around, candles, balloons popping at midnight, and some terrible karaoke. It was a fun night.

(So I shopped...I hope I won't drop soon, I think I hit my head getting out of a jeep after seeing some ruins that morning...no actually I know I hit my head...but I didn't think it was that hard, so I really had to think back to what I did, and now I have a huge HUGE bump that is hurting me behind my ear! I think that is where I hit my head...if not, then I don't know what that is from, but I hope the pain goes away soon! Can you break your ear? If so, maybe that is what I did! And no...I didn't drink that much beer at the party, so it is not from that!)
