Spain is for Dog Lovers...But Watch Your Step!

* Dogs are all over the place and most are the best trained dogs I have ever seen. Tons of people walk their dogs with no leash in the middle of the city. Itīs a bit surprising. I wonder if a lot just take off like that dog from "Funny Farm" the first time they are let off the leash.

I swear to god, I think White Fang ran right past me yesterday with no leash. I almost shit myself. I turned around after hearing a dog and as you can imagine, I was caught a little off-guard. Didnīt expect to see a fictional wolf from a 80 year old American novel in the center of Madrid. First time for everything I guess...

Unfortunately, they piss and shit everywhere (the dogs, not the owners). Most of the streets have little planters with trees in them. Walking anywhere near them is like walking through a minefield...you are taking a serious risk.

* Candy stores are very popular. There are lots of these places on the streets that have walls and walls full of candy. So, logically, what is the item sold from behind the counter...BREAD. I have no idea why. Is it for making candy sandwiches? A serious candy and carbīs addiction? Who knows...

* They know how to do "Holidays" here. Everything was closed on Monday. Most bars, cafes and restaurant were boarded up. Supermarkets...keep dreaming. Government was shut down. Stores were shut. The metro was running on "holiday hours". The holiday you ask...ALL SAINTS DAY. It was like this for Columbus Day too. He wasnīt Spanish and didnīt discover Spain...I think they just like excuses to not work. I canīt wait to see what Arbor Day is like and I have been told that Secretaries Day is wild...
