Roman adventure

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Sunday night saw us dining in candlelit style.
We were transported back to Ancient Rome and dined on roast chicken pheasant, chicken peacock eggs, stuffed chicken dormouse and less exotic things like dates and olives, marzipan cakes and roast pork.
Ever since we studied Ancient Egypt…then Greece…then Rome…then the Middle Ages….and the Renaissance and Reformation….and that would be a few years ago now….we have been talking with friends who studied with us about *doing an ancients dinner* (the boys had visions of lying back on couches and being fed grapes – heehee, dream on lads, didn’t you notice the servants in the books were all male??)

You don’t need to go to Rome to make a memory or create an adventure.

But when (if) we get there, I’m sure we’ll all remember this Roman dinner!

more mongolia

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

In the LP Guide, there was mention of a bow-n-arrow making place just north of Anak Ranch. There are some children round here, who are determined to make that not-so-far-relatively-speaking-journey. When I consider their homemade adventures and 1938-movie-watching (including all the interviews)and Robin-Hood-weapons-creations and sewing projects and writing projects too, I am inclined to try to help them. We are taking them to Mongolia, after all.

*WE DID IT*

Monday, June 2nd, 2008
"SSSHHHH," he whispered somewhat unnecessarilly as I was only just emerging from slumberland and had little intention of making my wakeful state yet known! "Is it raining?" he continued. with a bounce in your step

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008
It was with some trepidation we embarked on our first walk with Totally Loaded Packs. Anticipating the baby, who is still not yet two years old, might not manage to walk the whole way, I carried a wrap, just in ... [Continue reading this entry]

waif alert

Thursday, March 13th, 2008
One of our *little girls* always looks like a waif, no matter what we do with her / to her / for her / about her. So it seemed pointless to tidy her up for her passport photo: [Continue reading this entry]

extreme passport

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008
Thoroughly frustrated, but confident that the late hour was a contributor to our inability to *make it work*, we went to bed. It should have been a simple matter. Passport photos for all. Of course we could have gone into a Passport-Making-Place ... [Continue reading this entry]
