The Full Moon Party

Flame dancers painting glowing arcs,
Fluorescent dragons butterflies flags and bones jumping from tanned skin,
Sellers of pancakes, booze buckets, chicken skewers, bendable wearable neon,
Possibly the most vibrant and international beach in the world at that moment.
Brushing past Europe, Middle East, Australia, N. and S. America,
Politics irrevelant in shared grins.

Lunar and Thai calendars mingling to bring the traditional “Water Festival” together with a raucous beach party.
We sent our intricate banana-leafed “floater” into the ocean with–as instructed–fingernails, hair, a couple coins, and our wishes for the coming year.
With our extra effort to hike up pants to walk it over the breaking waves,
It escaped the fate of those immediately tossed back on the beach.
Bobbed cheerfully then surfed one good wave before it split into 20 pieces,
Our wishes no longer needing their transport vessel.

Such was the infamous FULL MOON PARTY , attended monthly by crowds up to 12,000 people, on Koh Phangan, Thailand. Definitely a colorful and fun start to my travels with Kristin through Asia . : )
