Day 3: Chomrong to Dovan

Another early morning greets us and our group continues the long hike through the mountains, and occasionally back down to the river.  My body is begging me to turn back, but I am determined to enter the Sanctuary.  The trek has been brutally rough so far, but the scenery is worth more than the effort.

We have passed through the denser clusters of farming communities, and are in more wild terrain now.  Moss covered vines wrap around ancient trees.  Waterfalls spill across the trail.  All sorts of animals, from chickens to mules to monkeys roam free.  Civilization hasn’t complete disappeared, but has faded considerably.  Wilderness is still supreme here!

A daily dose of Dahl Baht, the local thali (all-you-can-eat) meal of lentil sauce, curry and rice is a welcome reward at the end of each day.  Every inn has its own distinct style and flavor, but they’re all delicious!
