May 29, 2005What the fu...?
Itīs always something. I donīt have much to complain about here. Great weather, check. Relatively cheap beer and sangria, check. No early morning work, check. Relaxed and laid back culture, check. Quiet street to live on, check...or so I thought. For a while, that was the case. I live in a fairly residential section of the city. My building is filled with the oldest, smallest and quietest people in Spain. Until about two or three months ago, everything was good. Now, not so much. First, it was street construction. Hey, great, way to improve my city...keep up the good work guys. One thing though...not to nitpick, but could you possibly avoid doing the amazingly loud construction work a little later than 8:30am? If so, I would greatly appreciate it. Then, the garage next door to my apartment building decided to re-model....hold that thought...Total Eclipse of the Heart is on the radio right now... Ok, so they decided to remodel. Great. Improve the look of your business, whatever you need. PROBLEM. I share a wall with this garage, sitting only a few floors below. My window is also on the same side of the building as the entrance to the garage. They arenīt doing a half ass job either. Completely ripping apart the place. Jackhammers and everything. Have you ever heard the sound that is created when a power tool of some type saws through tile? I have. I have heard it just about every day for the last two months. When you ask? 8:00am or so. Itīs a little different each day, probably depending on what they eat for breakfast. The infuriating thing isnīt that they wake me up hours before I have to actually get out of bed for work. The really infuriating thing is that any other time I walk past the garage they arenīt cutting anything. I swear to god, they cut all the tile they need for the day bright and early. Itīs fucking sweet. So today, Sunday, what woke me up? God. Well, not so much him, but his messengers here on Earth. The damn church around the corner from my house. For some reason unknown to me the bells rang for approximately 92 hours this morning (or maybe it was 30 minutes, I canīt remember). Is it some religious holiday today or were the street construction workers and the garage remodelers just finding a new way to fuck with me?? After a few pitchers of sangria last night I didnīt need the wake up call this morning. Nothing here happens early. Ever. Except apparently, ear-splitting construction work and endlessly ringing church bells. Comments
Hi there, Give me a quick call and I will call you straight back. Thanks, Isha Hi there, would be great to get a different opinion on our great leader back here in the states, especially from a bitter, half drunk american dissident like yourself. you think you could give me a quick call so we can book you for Fox & Friends? thanks, Neuman Ok, whoīs the douchebag posting a fake CNN comment? You couldnīt come up with something a bit funnier? Newman, it better not have been you, especially after the Fox News one. One is ok, but two is just not that funny... Posted by: Kevin on June 1, 2005 06:23 AMI randomly came across your journal today on bootsnall. Hilarious! And it brings back memories of Spain when I was there about 4 years ago. partying until 5 a.m. then killing time at the cyber cafe eating churros and chocolate until the metro opens. ah, those were the days! And I live near CP and work in DC, how random! Hoping to get to Europe this summer but doubt it will be Espana....next time ;) Posted by: Jen on June 2, 2005 04:06 PMPost a comment
