Still in Siem Reap

Hi All,

I am still in Siem Reap just kind of kicking back after the whirlwind 3 days of temple climbing and viewing. I think next time, (if there is a next time) I will just buy the weeklong pass so that I can take a day off every once in a while. It gets exhausting in this heat to go from place to place, and walk and climb around so much in order to see everything. Unless you've been here, you just have no idea of the scale of the place and after a day or two you really come to appreciate what these people were capable of building over a thousand years ago.

It has been a very nice trip, but I think I will be happy to come home. It's hot here every day, quite a bit hotter than I was expecting since this is supposed to be the cool season and the best time to visit. While just relaxing somewhere I often break a sweat, it's that hot. It'll be a shock to come home to winter and rain again. And I've been hearing that it is quite cold at home right now. It's hard for me to imagine...

I still have a few days and am trying to decide if I want to go back to Phnom Penh or not. I think I am going to though, and fly back to Bangkok. After all I've been through, I don't relish the idea of doing the long overland trip again to get myself back to Bangkok and then have a very long flight right afterward. (As it turned out-- this was a good decision, because I caught a cold just before leaving and felt quite ill all the way home. It would have been that much more difficult to endure a long bus ride followed by even longer flight(s).) So, I owe my husband a debt of gratitude for wiring me some money so that I could buy a flight ticket to Bangkok and bypass all that misery. :)

Well, it is almost dinner time here, so I am going to wrap this up for now. The connection time for almost every internet cafe I've been in is horrendous, making it difficult to want to add to my blog, so please forgive my brief entries.

Dad, I hope you'll consider wiring me some money so I can afford to buy you some things that you wanted. I of course will soon be giving you back the money you put into my account that I can't access. And the same goes for you too bro...

Talk to you all again soon!

dont worry about getting me anything, a single scarf might be ok, have my hands full today, David was very weak last night and they were doing extra measures to keep his heart beating, including injecting dopamine.. cannot get up there today, having a severe ice storm so enjoy the hot weather, not so hot here..

You will be back to Cambodia some day. Little doubt in my mind. Maybe I can go someday - sounds like my kind of place.

I also am not gonna be able to get funds into your account so don't worry about it! You know I have more than enough STUFF and there will always be opportunities to buy more. Enjoy your trip and forget about buying stuff is my opinion.

I think you should persue encouraging that hotel to make things good if you have time.

Dont look back on what happened, keep looking foward! What happened is in the past, there may yet be magic found in PP, and stories as yet unknown will be told.
