The silence has ended

Just a quick note to let you know i survived. . .

10 days of silence, waking to a bell at 4am, eating 1 or 2 meals a day,
showering with a bucket of cold water wearing a sarong and in an open courtyard in the dark. no music, no writing, no reading, no thinking! – just meditation.

thankfully yoga was allowed or i think my body would have cracked under
the pressure of all that sitting. there was also a magical natural hotspring
surrounded my jungle which was a candlelit refuge every evening, floating on
my back and watching the stars – bliss! (even if i did end up with a middle ear infection and extreme vertigo)

on the last night we were able to speak and share our experiences. it was really worthwhile for me, its given me a new perspective on life and a stronger sense of peace and acceptance.

i am now back on my own, in surat in southern thailand (not that southern,
no terrorists here, nothing here at all except transport to other places). my plan is to catch the train to penang in malaysia before flying from there to kota kinabalu in borneo (east malaysia) to have christmas with my mama. it is weird to be in a buddhist country at christmas – not a jingle, not a santa, not a reindeer, not a consumerist spending frenzy in sight – it is liberating.
