What my blog is about

This blog started out as simple e-mails that I sent back home to family and friends. About 10 months into my trip I started cutting and pasting those emails into this blog. Before too long I was writing the emails with the intent to put those words on my blog. It changed the way I wrote and turned into something fun and fullfilling. My trip started way back in January, 2004. I started from Indonesia and wanted to get to France without flying, which I did with the exception of a quick flight from Chengdu (China) to Lhasa, Tibet and another from Kabul, Afghanistan, to Istanbul, Turkey. I really started to change (personally) when I was in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan and unfortunately I only sent a few e-mails. And that brings me to where I am now. Still traveling, but trying to catch up with those amazing experiences I had, put them on my blog and share them with others. I hope you enjoy...

Interview with a cannibal

April 11th, 2005

I’ve got to put this in my blog, it’s to weird not to. This first part took place at the end of march when I was in Darjeeling with Sarah, we met an American guy who had been living (teaching English) in India for a while. He was a pretty cool cat and was very informed on many local issues. We went out for a few beers and thanks to the beer, he ended up telling us the freakiest story ever. I can’t remember a lot of the details, but I remember enough to identify the psycho he told us about.

Long time…

April 4th, 2005

I’ve been busy catching up with the last 14 months on the road and haven’t posted on what I’ve been up to since Hampi, so here’s what I’ve been up to…

Well, needless to say we’ve (Sarah and I) covered a lot of ground since then. I’ll quickly run off a bunch of names (of places we’ve been since), but no details or I’d be here all day (OK, maybe a few).

India

April 1st, 2005

Here are some more burnt observations from me. At this point I’ve been backpacking in India for just about 6 months and these are my favorite parts. 😉 This is just off of the top of my head, but don’t worry, India is made up of much more madness than this…

Sweets – India

March 1st, 2005

This is my candy rating system for India, so don’t worry about a thing. I’ll make it easy for you all to have quality sweets (candy) in India.! You just sit back and let Sarah (Smith) and I do all the work for you! This grueling work was done by us while we travelled in the south of India earlier this year. We’ve both sacrificed for you, so enjoy…

India (Agra and Varanasi)

February 9th, 2005

This one was pretty evil (and common) and hasn’t happened for a while. Not since a couple of Irish backpackers died in Varanasi because of it. I could happen again though, so it’s worth mentioning.

Scaming the scamers!

February 9th, 2005

I’ll save myself a lot of work and paste a copy of one of my friends e-mails. This is one of the common jewel scam in both India and Nepal, this one took place in India though. It’s long, but informative…
