India (Agra and Varanasi)
This one was pretty evil (and common) and hasn’t happened for a while. Not since a couple of Irish backpackers died in Varanasi because of it. I could happen again though, so it’s worth mentioning.
You’re in Agra eatin dinner at your hotel when suddenly you’re super sick! You run to the toilet and can’t leave, because you’re that sick! The owner checks up on you to see if you’re OK, then offers to take you to a good doctor, his doctor, for free!
You’re not going to argue about that one and you think help is on the way. Two days later though, you’re still just as sick, but you’re stuck in some scumbag doctors fake clinic! Instead of an I.V. in your arm, it’s poison and it’s keeping you just as sick!
They contact your travel insurance company and milk them for 10’s of thousands of $! I worked for a long time and the Indian police, this is going to be a big surprise, never caught anyone! The insurance company’s had to send there own private investigators to finaly catch the scum bags!
That’s a nasty, evil one! That’s why I don’t have travelers insurance. Just kidding. 😉
