When we decided to go travelling we just did not have a clue where to start: where to get the ticket, how much money, how long, where to go, what jabs….the list is never ending.
First thing was to decide where / when to go. Personnally I always wanted to go to India, Australia, Tahiti and New Caledonia. Mark is more into China and America. We also wanted to do Japan and Brazil, but unless you have a lot of money to buy 2 round the world trip tickets, you have to stick to what is on offer. It took a lot of research to find the type of tickets and more importantly the travel agent that would handle our journey. We found an agency in Brighton that seemed really good, but with us living in Derby it just was not practical at all. When looking for a travel agent, you need to make sure it is not too much bother for you to pop in as often as you need to and that there is no time constraint. We spent about 2 hours with a very patient guy who was brilliant at his job. We told him where we wanted to go. Due to some of the destinations (New Caledonia and Tahiti) we were not sure of the budget etc. But as soon as he knew what regions of the world we wanted to visit, he advised us on the “Escapade” ticket. It works for Asia, Australia, Pacific and America. We had to kiss good bye to Brazil and Japan but you can’t always get what you want.
Escapade offers you a basic allowance of 29,000 miles for about £900, then if you want to purchase more miles, they cost you from £75 for 3,000 miles. These rates depend on the date of departure. Also, make sure you check out the season in the coutries you want to go to and visit. We are sunseekers, so we follow the summer (apart from China) around the globe. November is the right time to leave for India as it is the driest season. We will be back in Europe for April/May when the nice weather picks up again

Lorsque nous avons decide de partir voyager, nous ne savions vraiment pas par ou commencer les preparatifs: ou acheter les billets, combien d’argent prendre, combien de temps partir, ou aller, lquels vaccins…..la liste continuait de s’allonger.
Premiere chose a faire etait de decider ou aller et quand y aller. Pour ma part, j’ai toujours voulu aller en Inde, Australie, Tahiti et Nouvelle-Caledonie. Mark est plus Chine et USA. Nous voulions aussi aller au Japon et au Bresil, mais a moins d’augmenter notre budget de facon considerable et d’acheter 2 billets tour du monde, on doit faire avec ce qu’il y a. Ca m’a pris pas mal de temps pour me renseigner sur les differents types de billets et aussi ou trouver une agence de voyage qui pourra nous aider. J’ai trouve une agence a Brighton qui avait l’air pas mal mais etant donne que nous habitons a Derby ce n’etait pas pratique du tout. lorsque vous chercher une agence de voyage, assurez vous qu’il ne sera pas trop difficile de vous y rendre et d’y passer du temps, et d’y retourner aussi souvent que possible. Nous avons passe environ 2 heures avec un agent tres patient qui etait tres bon a son boulot et qui savit de quoi il parlait. Nous lui avons dit ou est-ce qu’on voulait aller. A cause de certaines destinations (Tahiti et Nouvelle Caledonie) nous n’etions pas surs du budget etc. Mais des qu’il a su quelle regions du monde nous voulions visiter, il nous a conseille le billet “Escapade”, qui marche en Asie, en Australie, dans le Pacifique et aux Etats-Unis. On a du abandonner le Bresil et le Japon, mais bon, c’est question de compromis.
Escapade offre un kilometrage basic d’environ 46,600 kilometres pour a peu pres £900 ou 1,260€. Ensuite vous pouvez ajouter des kilometres au prix de £75 (105€) pour 4,800 km. Ces prix dependent de la date de depart. En plus vous devez ajouter les taxes d’aeroports, et voila. Vous avez votre billets. Aussi, faites attention de verifier les saisons des pays que vous allez visiter. Nous cherchons le soleil, donc nous suivons l’ete autour du globe (sauf pour la Chine). Novembre est le bon moment de l’annee pour partir en Inde car c’est la saison seche. Nous reviendrons en Europe en Avril/Mai lorsque les beaux jours reviennent.
