The Hobbit is on !!!

Thursday, December 20th, 2007
Hello There,, I’m sure you heard the good news. The Hobbit is now on the fast track for 2010. Well here is my news. I’m quitting my job , selling my house and moving down there,,I MUST BE IN THAT MOVIE! I don’t care how or in what capacity,  behind the scenes, carrying water up hill, doesn’t matter. I want to be down there making Middle Earth history.. I’ve written Vic and Raewyn, And told them that if Vic needs a partner hiding behind trees, climbing fences or crawling thru mud to get close and get the scoop. I’m his man,,, I can run really fast. and can jump fallen trees, running creeks or dead Orcs. I’m still spry at 41. I’m writing Peter Jackson and telling him, I’ll rub his feet, watch his kids, clean his glasses, or shovel horse poop,  I don’t care. I’m desperate If anyone gets any further news or more details, please write me,,I’m very serious. I won’t let this opportunity pass by. At the very least, I’m going back on the Tour with Vic and Raewyn,, maybe we can all go and have a wonderful re-union tour, only those that have been on it before, and ALL get in it, That would be wonderful,,,Now that would definitely be an “Unexpected Party” Can you see 20 of us, sneaking up to a film set/site. Funny stuff. Brian

Timmys Thoughts

Monday, February 27th, 2006
The reason, I really what to go on this trip, is that Lord of the rings is my favorite subject in the world, as you already know. Lord of the rings can be everyones favorite subject just like mine, my Uncle Max’s, and my brother Toms. My science teacher always loved the lord if the rings, so she might be gettiing jealous hahah. The Hobbit, I have read it many times, is incredible! Just like the other books. When you read the books, it seems like you are there, and everything around you is real. My teacher says the same thing. The same thing happens when I watch the awesome movies. I try to watch all three in a row in one night. Lord of the rings has the best influence on people. Every time I read, watch, and listen about Lord of the rings, I learn something new. Lord of the rings shows many things that you can learn, so I learn something new every day. Basically, Lord of the rings can be educational to anyone. The teachers should teach Lord of the rings at school. See ya.  Tim

School

Saturday, February 25th, 2006
Hey Uncle Max,
this is my article for the blog, so i hope you like it!!!
School has been really hard these past few weeks, but I’m doing good. I think I will get good grades to go on our trip. One of the hardest thing to do, is to pay a lot more attention in class. I have to do a lot of work, I even help out my friend, Brandon because he has a hard time in school. It doesnt bother me a lot. Most of my teachers are really happy for my brother and I. The one teacher that is really happy, is my social studies teacher, Mrs. Lantka she has been to Japan. All of the kids in school are kinda jealous because they all want to travel. I do get frustrated a little bit when I have a lot of homework. My brother and I do all of the extra credit, we can so we can bring our grades up. My one friend had a C in the the class and he did all the extra credit and it brought his grade up to an A. My brother Tom always gets nervous because this trip means a lot to us. So overall, I’m doing good in school so I’ll  have a high chance of going on the trip.See ya

It’s Official **** 259 Days to Go ****

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006

Hello There,,

I guess it really is official now,, Spoke to Jill from Relaxing Journeys, and all accomodations have been made and finalized.  I had to put money down to reserve a place for us on the tour. Final tally for the Tour alone is $10,800 NZ, which turns out to be $7,308.17US. Not too bad considering we will have 12 days in Middle-Earth. I sent my down payment today to reserve our places $750 NZ = $504 US. Now I need to get my butt moving on the rest of the money, and the airfare, which is going to be monumental,,, Namarie

Cost of a Dream

Tuesday, February 14th, 2006

How much does a Dream cost? This is a question I have asked myself quite a few times these last few months. Ever since I decided to take the Boys to New Zealand, We have encountered 1 hurtle after another. First, since NZ is on the other side of the world, I had to try and get a furlo (Vacation) pick, in April, which would’ve corresponded with early Fall in NZ and also when the Boys had Easter break. That didn’t happen, I don’t have the seniority, I was out bid. The best I could get was October, which is early spring, hopefully it won’t be a wet spring.  That was a blow that took some time getting over, But The Boys have such a positive attitude, they figured it would give us more time to save money and more chances for me to work overtime.  Overtime is a huge hurtle for me, becuase, i’m personally very lazy,  I really enjoy my free time, and any time away from work is well spent. But money is definitely a Huge hurtle.  I just didn’t realize How huge a hurtle, until pricing everything With Jill From Relaxing Journeys, This is going to set me back!!  Don’t misunderstand, I always knew it was going to cost a lot, but this is crazy. For the Tour alone, it is costing $7,600 US for the 3 of  us, for 12 days! Now add into that the air fare, that is going to set me back almost $6,000 US, I almost feinted !!! But this dream has become a Passion, A chance in a lifetime, to step outside one’s life and do something out of the ordinary.  As I write this, the Olympics are on, I’m listening to Athletes from all over the World, talk about the Goal for Gold, and all the hurtles and injuries it took for them to achieve their Goal.  This then has become our Goal, our Dream. Anything less isn’t good enough. It’s All in God’s Hands, we can only do our best, and keep our eyes on the Gold.    MAX

Max 261 days to go

Sunday, February 12th, 2006

About 2 wks ago, I emailed a question to the editor of Agent of Travel, A column in the Chicago Sun-Times Travel section. Today, the answer to that question was published. In summary, I asked whether or not there were special papers, aside from the pre-requisite passports, that I needed to take with me, that allows me, as The Twins Uncle, not their Guardian, to leave the country.  The Editor Lisa Lenoir responded with  more information than I could have hoped for. No special papers needed, she also provided plenty of other information.  The books she recommended, I already have, but she also provided flight information, info on immunizations and also websites we could visit to get even more information.  The boys were so excited, they jumped on their bikes in a snowstorm to ride to the nearest store to buy the paper. The full story is available on The Sun-times website.   Another hurtle down,,,,,,  Max 11 Feb 06 15:05 hrs

Thomas – 263 DAYS TO GO

Saturday, February 11th, 2006

Dear Fans,

I’m a boy who is a big Lord of The Rings fan.  My Uncle introduced me into Lord of The Rings when I was little.  Lotr has been my favorite movie and book all my life.  I know a lot about Lord of The Rings because I read the books and my Uncle told me most of it.  I know most of J.R.R. Tolkien (John Ronald Reuhl Tolkien).  He was a kid with a great imagination. He was very smart person.  He liked to be in different worlds.  He thought about lots of different things.  Now back to me.  My favorite character is Legolas.  Legolas is an Elven Prince from Mirkwood.  LOTR is not only full of Magic.  It’s about things you could try to do.  LOTR is about strength, friendship, being smart, and not giving up.  Now you know a big LOTR fan.  My Uncle, my brother, and me.  We are now trying to save money to go to New Zealand (where they made the movie) for a big LOTR tour. We can walk into the shire, Rivendale, Mt Doom, Rohan, Osgiliath, Minas Tirith, and more.  We’re going in October.  We’re trying not to skip work or school. My Uncle is working a long time to save money.  We are trying to make “A” Honor Roll in school. This is my letter about my relationship with Lord of The Rings.

Biography Pt Deux

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

The Twins,

Timothy and Thomas are both 12, about average hobbit height, (I’m sure they can tell us their exact ht, but off hand I don’t know it), above average students, (they must get A honor roll to go on this Voyage) , both of whom love baseball, skateboarding,Ping Pong, riding their bikes around town and playing video games. Thomas is now taking after me and learning to play the Piano, he is a quick learner, and Timmy is a beautiful Artiste, he is perfecting his sketching and drawing abilities. Both boys are kind and considerate (ask any who meet them)and very polite and respectful. I have asked them to jot down some ideas on several topics , so they can share their thoughts with everyone. They asked me what kind of topics. I suggested several. Why the want to go to NZ, who their favorite character was, why they love the movies/books (both are reading the Hobbit now), why i’m the greatest person in the world, hahaha kidding, and so in the ensuing months, between trips to get our passports, me working overtime, them doing extra credit at school etc etc, They will be posting their ideas, I think also its a good idea for me to write my thoughts on those related topics. For Now Namarie
