Today, we went to Santa Lucia, which is another hill in the middle of the city which has been made into a park. There are lovely fountains and palm trees and a mirador at the top from which you can see the smoggy city of Santiago.

We celebrated our reunion with a bottle of bubbly (Chilean champagne is very nice) but the fact that I hadn't eaten, plus the heat, plus the fact that it was only noon made me very lightheaded.

We had a very overpriced but nice sandwich at R. The Santa Lucia area seems to be pretty upmarket and slightly over budget for us... We had a siesta at the hotel and drank the bottle of Casillero del Diablo which Keiron had bought at the vineyard, until it was time to go to the restaurant, Las Vacas Gordas (the fat cows).

The restaurant, which is in Barrio Brasil, was very big and very full but we managed to get a table. I had a brocheta de lomo, Keiron lomo with mushroom sauce. They were not Argentinian proportions, but still consisted of a meat supply which could have fed a small country. I'm sure they go through about a cow per evening.

Indigestion was looming, especially after the fruit salad and icecream we had for dessert. We walked back to the hotel, hobbling like two fat cows ourselves, and collapsed on the bed.
