Day 187: MTR

We were planning to go to the Ngo Ping monastery today, but when we got out of the MTR (mass transit rail) it was raining and very grey and we weren't really prepared, so we headed back... The MTR is very clean, organised and efficient, though I can imagine human traffic jams occur in the morning and evening.

I bought 'Noble House', a book by James Clavell about Hong Kong in 1963, a read of about 1400 pages and absolutely brilliant stuff, so I couldn't put it down.

We are not, perhaps, giving Hong Kong the full tourist exploration that it deserves, but we are feeling a bit worn out and the masses, pollution and lack of funds are all conspiring against us. We are ready for the familiarity and comfort of home.

In the evening we were serenaded with such classics as 'Angels' by Robbie Williams and 'Puff the Magic Dragon' as we ate our pasta and pizza at Valentino's, being surrounded by waiters who had nothing better to do than stare at us.
