Day 188: Museums

On our last day, we went to the Museum of Art, which has great views of Victoria Harbour and some good works, though it wasn't the best museum we'd ever done.

On the other hand, the Museum of History, which we did in the afternoon, had a brilliant display about 'the Hong Kong story' starting from the prehistoric age up to 1997, when Hong Kong was handed back to China and became an SAR (Special Administrative region).

The displays were inventive, some of the video's playing fascinating. It was interesting to see the evolution, from a backwater to capitalist metropolis at the doorstep of communist China, from British occupation to the world war against the Japanese to the water shortages and typhoons of the sixties.

In the evening I frantically read 'Noble House' and we packed our stuff, as the nearly seven months on the road have come to an end.
