Day 112: San Cristobal revisited

I slept a bit restlessly, this familiar stranger next to me. The builders opposite the hotel figured we had had enough sleep and started digging and drilling and do the stuff builders do.

Keiron and I brunched at Havanna and sat on the Plaza but it was soon swelteringly hot and we took shelter in a cafe and had a Pepsi. I had been to the the top of San Cristobal before, but Keiron had not so we took the funicular up and sat at the feet of the Virgin. My old friend Hugo the cyclist (the one that thinks half the women in Europe are lesbians) was there chatting up another victim.

We had a late lunch at Donde La Elke, a nice place with good food ie watermelon juice, chicken, veggies and rice, and icecream. The chicken was so well cooked it nearly fell off the bone, juicy and tasty. I already feel more healthy...

We sauntered around Santiago for a bit (well, me sauntering, Keiron marching at high speed) and later we went to the supermarket (Keiron mysteriously disappearing for a while) and decided to do a little in-house picnic in the evening at the hotel, with rolls, ham and cucumber.

We're still getting used to each other again and are trying to find our travelling rhythm but it's nice not to be alone and to be with someone you know and trust. We're falling back into old routines, speaking our own language. We've decided to stay in Santiago until our flight leaves on Tuesday, to find our feet and make some plans.
