June 30, 2005Pamplona Prep Work
As the date quickly approaches (July 7th, 8am) a sense of nervous excitement is setting in. Part of me wishes that everyone I know would stop telling me not to run, but part of me also loves that aspect of it. People donīt die every year, they only get severely injured!! I canīt wait!! One week from this morning, I will either be dead, severely gored/maimed, only slightly injured, or (fingers crossed for either of the last two options) completely high on alcohol and adrenaline following a successful run and ready to start drunk dialing. Only a few preparations left to make. Since I am sleeping in the park, I have eliminated the time consuming and very costly chore of finding an appropriate place to sleep there. I hope my night terrors donīt wake up everyone else sleeping in the park. Duffy 1, Pamplona 0. I got my bus ticket and have secured a slightly larger small backpack to use for my gear. And, I have most of my uniform. I need some white shorts or pants to wear. Hopefully I can get them today and I will purchase my red sash when I arrive in Pamplona. My only other "real" decision to make is whether I should ruin a perfectly good short-sleeved linen shirt by drawing a bullseye and writing "Vaya Con Dios" on the back or if I should buy a cheap white t-shirt for that purpose. I think this is a perfect opportunity to test the phrase "bullseye" and actually determine if this is how the word originated. Comments
Is there ANYONE you know that's willing to run on the sidelines w/ you? Are there sidelines to run on? There has to be someway we can hire one of your punk ass kids to run w/ a video or digital camera! I pledge $100 to anyone willing to follow El Duffy through the streets, running for his life. I've seen his face with stingrays swimming underneath him... a Bull charging at full speed would be priceless! http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=4289268623&idx=1 surprisingly, there arenīt any sidelines. are you serious? itīs not Giants Stadium.
