Antarctica here i come?

I am so close! I can almost reach out and touch it. Check out THIS picture of the planet. I am in the center. Can I make the journey?

Look closely, at the very center, you can see.... me!

Unfortunately, the answer is probably no. Shit. Its proably becuase i am wearing a LOVELY yellow shirt (thanks darren) No.. serously, its too expensive. :( I cant find a way to get there for less than 2300USD. I MIGHT try to fly from Punta Arenas (Map, the star is me, i AM a star..)

OK! Some quick stats for town at the end of the world.

Coord:

south 54.80750
west 68.30407

Distance from home:
10,948.82 KM

Sunrise/Set:
5:27/22:00

Here´s an important one. The AMOUNT OF TIME UNTIL I AM BACK ON CANADIAN SOIL!!

RIGHT back to stories...

Argentinian airports are immaculate. I was totally blown away by how nice both the BsAs and the Ushruya airports were. WAY nicer than person. And while i was waiting in the BsAs one, i realized that i was sorrounded by old people...

so many old people. what is going on? even stranger, old gringos! Wait a second, tons of old people on vacation? i must be on a cruise! How did i get on a cruise without knowing it?!?!? What has happened to me?!?!

As it turned out, i was in fact, NOT on a cruise, but on my way to one of the most popular ports for taking trips to antarctica. Sweet. Maybe i can sneak on and hitch a ride. Or.. worst case, BUY a ticket.

Unfortunately, as you all read earlier in this entry, it doesnt look like its going to happen... i MIGHT be able to find a flight later, but its just too damn expensive.

I did get the chance to wander down to the port, and try to find work for a week or 2 on a ship. Nada. Pfft, since when did hitchiking on luxury yachts get so hard?

More pictures of the end of the world

The hostal is amazing. Such a pretty setting. I am going to take pictures of it now. Tommorow? Off to a park, then maybe a boat ride.

Oh ya, and its EXPENSIVE DOWN HERE. what is going on?

miss you all.

cheers!
